Ways Wasps Are Dangerous In Summer
Most pests are dangerous in some or other way. For example, rats can bite you and are notorious for spreading disease. But out of all pests, we’d have to say that wasps are potentially the most dangerous. This danger increases exponentially during the summer. Here are just a few of the reasons why wasps are dangerous during the warmer months.
What do wasps do in summer?
Wasps go into a semi-hibernation during Winter. What happens is that male wasps die. The queen then finds a place to hide herself. Once it’s almost summer, she sets off and find a new place to build her nests. After doing this she lays eggs. These eggs hatch and the new wasps begin to build the nest and search for food.
During this period, these wasps and other summer pests are extremely active. They work day and night to construct the nest, find food, and raise new wasps. You’ll often see dozens of wasps flying around a nest they are building.
When this happens, wasps are dangerous in the extreme. They are keenly aware of anyone who enters into their territory and will not hesitate to attack them. These wasps will quickly swarm if they feel that you’re threatening them. This is why it’s best to stay far away from their nests.
Something you may not have thought of…
In the summer, wasps are dangerous in other ways as well. A good example of this is if you’re eating outside. Wasps are attracted by things like sugar. If you’re drinking something sweet, they can easily get into your drink. This can include things like beer cans or coke etc. When this happens, you could easily get a wasp in your mouth (as you might not realise it is there). In this type of scenario, you may easily be stung. This might sound silly, but it happens more often than you think and food needs to be stored properly.
The point is that wasps are dangerous. It’s extremely important that you exercise caution around their nests. Never try to remove them yourself. It’s also important to be careful if they’re flying around while you’re eating. Do not attempt to interfere with the wasp. Simply wait until it leaves. Be careful and make sure your can does not have a wasp in it.
Also, if you do have a nest on your property, then it’s probably a good idea to have it professionally removed. Our team can help you with that. At this point you may be thinking: well this is something I can do myself – but it really isn’t. Remember, wasps are highly aggressive. They can also sting you more than once. You also won’t know you’re allergic until the wasp actually stings you. This means you could easily land up in the hospital or dead. Let us handle this problem safely and effectively.
